Aithor AI Review: Features, Pros, Cons & Best Alternatives
I know, like many students, you've probably found yourself in a time crunch, facing multiple deadlines with no time to get all your ideas on paper.
Maybe you’ve even experienced the dreaded writer's block or spent hours fine-tuning your words to meet that academic or professional tone.
The truth is, when you’re balancing creativity and effectiveness, even the best of us need a little help. That’s where AI writing tools such as AiIthor, which I will be reviewing here, come into play.
But there’s a problem: Many AI writers out there promise to be the ultimate solution but fall short.
I have played around with quite a few to know that some fail to understand the tone, others generate content that feels robotic, and let’s not even get started on the ones that completely miss the point of your prompts.
It leaves you wondering—is there really an AI tool that can match the complexity of human thought while keeping your unique voice? In this blog post, I will be reviewing Aithor, AI writing help. I will be assessing the performance of AIthor through the experience I have gathered over the years testing software of this kind.
Now, let’s break down my rating based on the parameters below to see if Aithor truly delivers on its promise.
Parameters I Used to Review Aithor AI
When reviewing Aithor AI, I looked at several factors to help you make the best decision. Here are the key parameters that shaped this review:
Ease of Use
Customization and tone control
Content Quality
Let’s dive into it and also see how it measures up with other alternatives.
Aithor Features, Pros, and Cons
On the home page, you can easily see the various features of Aithor as an AI writing assistant that can help students, content writers, and bloggers.
It promises personalized outcomes for:
Academic coursework
Research paper
Essays
Articles
Literature review
Blogposts
It is for scholarly and creative work; and all kinds of writing, according to Aithor.
Aithor also features customization features for tone and style.
In other words, without manually prompting it, you can choose your writing tone from formal to personal.
With this tool, you can create, refine, disguise, and cite.
The disguise button is used to avoid AI detection. This is ideally a great feature for students and content creators.
You can adjust the number of words to fit your preference without having to manually type the prompt.
There are NOT a lot of features to explore in Aithot. It is a basic tool for students.
From my exploration, it’s safe to say that ease of use is probably the strongest point with this tool.
Is Aithor Easy to Use? Plus Customization and Tone Quality
I will discuss these 2 parameters under one subheading and you will quickly see why.
You see, most AI writing tools offer a similar service as Aithor. However, Aithor kind of automates most of what you would normally type by yourself.
In essence, instead of telling the AI tool that you want an essay of 4000 words, you simply adjust the horizontal bar in the image above (last screenshot) to your preferred word length.
Instead of stating that you would love your essay to be descriptive, you simply select the “descriptive” button.
That’s a cool feature that makes this tool easy to use until it becomes limiting.
For instance, sometimes you may want to write an article in a tone that is “conversational but not too informal,” right?
The closest to that kind of prompt would be Aithor’s “casual” tone but we know it wouldn’t exactly do the work.
Now, even if you want to adjust a response, you can only click the “refine” button and it automatically refines it.
But refines it from what to what exactly? On whose terms?
That’s the limitation of this small advantage where you get to do most things with a click.
On that note:
Pro: Easy to use
Con: Limiting. Said another way, it sacrifices tone and freedom to customize.
Aithor Content Quality
I took a prompt from one of its suggestions bordering on “company’s compensation policies.” I wanted the tone to be analytical and the word length to be 4000.
First of all, I found it quite a drag to use the word moderation bar. It was not seamless for me.
The response was flat. So, the bold claim of personalized content didn’t check out for me. I tested it across different content types—from academic essays to creative writing and professional reports—to see how versatile it is.
In my verdict, Aithor writes generic articles, considering that this should work “for all kinds of writing.
Also, most of the responses were mostly tailored for research—notwithstanding the tone I selected—as against creative work or literary work.
Also, Aithor did not accurately match the required tone. I switched the tone while experimenting with the same topic.
It also doesn't help that there is a given general outline it presents and follows for all the writing prompts, from academic work to blogpost.
Is Aithor Free to Use?
When I tested Aithor, I didn’t even get past the first hundred words before I was told that I had reached my free limit.
The monthly subscription is about $25. So, depending on whether you are on a tight budget, it might not be exactly “student-friendly”.
And since you can’t test it beyond a few hundred words, the fee may be a risky commitment.
Is Aithor Worth It?
Overall, Aithor AI impressed me with its blend of ease of use.
For both students looking to draft essays quickly and writers seeking inspiration, this tool covers the basis.
It’s a reliable sidekick to help you power through your workload.
You just keep in mind that the personalization doesn’t check out, it’s a bit rigid in terms of tonal adjustments, could be expensive depending on your pocket, and is not versatile for writers seeking to explore more creativity.
The AI Writing Checklist for Students
If you want to turn out great work your professors would love, the AI tool you choose should meet the following important criteria:
Originality: This is important for academic work; plagiarized content or AI-ish output puts you at risk of serious consequences from your instructor.
Content Quality: Go for a tool that delivers consistent, high-quality output and responses no matter the topic.
Ease of Use: You obviously want to make life easier, which is your reason for opting for AI assistance. Therefore, any tool you use should not complicate things for you.
Customization: One of the most important features to look out for in an AI writing tool is the flexibility to tailor the responses to meet your preferred style, tone, and voice.
Unfortunately, many tools boast of this feature without living up to it.
However, an AI writing assistant that lives true to its name is Co-writer. The features are innovative for students and writers who care about originality, speed, high-quality work, and customization.
There is even a feature for those who have work to do in languages other than English because Co-writer aims to be the go-to tool students from the world over can rely upon.
The interface above allows users to see all their schoolwork at a glance, including the bibliography library.
Students who are into lots of research work deem Co-writer as a lifesaver anytime because of the speed, accuracy, and accessibility.
Also, students are always guaranteed to receive the best outputs because Co-writer always reflects the strength of every single prompt.
Prompting any AI tool is the secret to a great AI output.
Yet many students fail at giving the best directions because they don’t know what works (more like they don't know how AI prompting works).
But that is no longer a cause for concern, as you can easily see if your prompt is strong enough just like this:
Here, it says my prompt is average. With more detail, Co-writer uses its advanced technology to customize and personalize responses.
There is zero fear about generic responses. No two writers using this tool will receive the same response from Co-writer, which is the hallmark of excellent AI writing software.
The good part? You don't need to be an expert at prompting.
The key, though, is to give your instruction to say exactly what you want Co-writer to help you with, then add a little detail to it.
For example: Analyze the theme of revenge in Shakespeare’s Hamlet as a weak prompt.
Adding the way you want it written adds pep to the instruction.
For example: Analyse the theme of revenge in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. (Write in a way that is easy to read and understand. Or, write using the style of Mark Twain)
Easy peasy.
Even with an average prompt, I was able to receive this quality of content from the Co-writer.
The output is on the left, highlighted in blue.
May I add that even the free version allows me to save all my work to document and all the documents in the previous screenshots were achieved with the free trial of this tool—nothing is hidden behind a paywall.
